The Quad Cities Music Education Coalition (QCMEC), located at 2660 East 53rd Street in Davenport, IA was opened August 10, 2007. Traditionally, music lessons have either been offered through retail music stores or through individual single instructors who teach from home. QCMEC, however, is a professional group of instructors that have come together for the sole purpose of education. We ensure that our instructors are top of the line in their field. All of our instructors have been hand picked for their knowledge and abilities in sight-reading, music theory, performance, improvisation, technique, and most importantly their ability to train students in these core competencies in music.
Every student, unless expressly requested, will learn classical, jazz, and modern music. Classical music aids in understanding music notation and language like crescendo, legato, and fortissimo. It improves sight reading, dynamics, breathing techniques, and precision. Jazz, on the other hand, develops a strong sense of rhythm and melody requiring students to know a higher level of music theory and improvisation. Modern music offers a variety of styles to keep our students, children and adults, entertained and focused on the development of their playing. Integrating all three key forms give our students a superior education that will last a lifetime.
